Update on Santry Flooding Project

The flood remedial works that were identified by the Council will lessen the flood risk potential in the general area, when completed.
The height of the overflow weir is being reduced, this will allow a rising lake water level to empty earlier which in turn will reduce the risk of the lake level overtopping the embankment.

In addition, (subject to the position of existing utility services allowing construction), it is proposed to install a dedicated surface water pipeline to service the gullies on the western side of the Swords Road along with the installation of additional gullies at the openings in the boundary wall of the park. These extra gullies would collect surface water from the lake in the event of an embankment overtopping.

A contractor has been appointed to carry out these works, commencing this week.
