Over the summer I had requested that the Council undertake a tree survey in the Santry estates. Santry Close, Knightswood and Royal Oak were all examined by the Council.
A total of 50 trees (just over 25%) of the street trees have been marked for removal and replacement in compliance with the requirements of the adopted tree strategy and a further 65 with some form of intervention recommended.
The Council has advised me that this level of work is beyond what can be achieved within existing resources in one season and will most likely take 3 to 4 visits of the tree crew to attend to all of the works identified in the survey.
Fingal has said that it will begin the process of prioritising the most urgent of the recommended works for example the dead, diseased and dying for attention this winter.
