Swords Heritage Week – 31st August –




Monday Sept. 1st       Swords in Old Photos – Swords Museum, Carnegie Library, North Street, Swords.   3.00 to 4.30 to  Photos illustrate the social history of Swords.

Tuesday Sept 2nd:      Museum as before. Swords in 1914.    What was going on in Swords then?   An interactive walk about the town with Declan Brady & friends.   Starting at Carnegie Library 7.30 pm

Wednesday Sept 3rd    –  Museum as before. 8.30 pm The Star, Main Street.   Launch of the 21st in he Swords Voices series. All are welcome to come along and enjoy the craic, music and singing – and of course meeting old friends and talking of old times.     Reception courtesy of ‘The Star’.for

Thursday Sept 4th    Museum as before – Trace your Fingallian roots – Find that lost relative at Genealogy Dept.

Friday Sept 5th     Museum as before8.00 pm    Presentation of awards in Short Story – Poetry & ‘What Swords Means to Me’ Contests – experience the excitement – enjoy the poetry readings    & winning stories.      Reception courtesy of David & Mary Grant – Carnegie Court Hotel.

Sunday Sept 7th    Visit St. Colmcille’s  Well (Well Road, Swords), where the town of Swords was founded in 563 AD by St. Colmcille – History Society members on hand to relate the history of the area.
