I have spoken to residents in Longlands this week about their continuing frustration at ongoing damage being done to the wall adjacent to the road opposite The Pavillions.
The residents have put in a very reasonable request to have the wall raised so that people cannot jump over it, it stops being used as a dumping ground and the trees are protected. As the wall is beside a bus stop the situation will continue unless action is taken.
So far the Council have refused to carry out this work. In my view it makes no sense as the wall will continue to be damaged and Council will have to keep coming back to clean up the rubbish being left there.
I am formally requesting the Council to carry out this work and if I am elected in May I will work with residents to see that this is undertaken.
This situation has gone on for far too long and residents have every right to see that their property taxes are spent on improving their estate.
